The Penang Tourism Tech Community hosted its first meetup at 25 Startups’ GeorgeTown incubator, featuring Muhammad Zaki Mohd Saman from NCER Malaysia and Ben Ho from Lexis Suites Penang as guest speakers. Muhammad Zaki spoke about NCER’s efforts to modernize tourism through digitalization, highlighting strategic investments focus destinations and clusters. Muhammad Zaki added on with enticing programmes such as tax incentives alongside NCER Technology & Innovation Centre’s Center of Excellence (CoE), Advanced Technology Meister Program (ATMP), and NCER Talent Enhance Programme (NTEP) which are offered through NCER Technology & Innovative Centre (NTIC).

Following Muhammad Zaki’s informative presentation, Ben showcased practical technology applications within the tourism sector, using a balanced scorecard system. He illustrated how technology enhances daily operations, reporting, and even integrates augmented reality (AR) into hospitality industry training. Ben encouraged the local tourism industry to fully embrace and harness technology’s potential to elevate the hospitality sector.

As the event concluded, attendees mingled, fostering new connections.
