Accelerating Startup Growth with AWS & USM

It was an exciting afternoon for Penang’s thriving startup community as 25 Startups’ Penang incubator organised a workshop with Universiti Sains Malaysia and Amazon Web Services on Accelerating Startups Growth.

If you missed out, here’s what we learned throughout the highly interactive session:

  • Startups can access government research funds through USM, starting from 50K to cover development costs. This can prove to be a significant boost for startups looking to enhance their product or service using emerging technologies.
  • Funding collaborations such as Public Private Research Network (PPRN) initiative, Crest-University Matching Grant, Government Research Grants, and TalentCorp Industry-Academia Collaboration offer exciting growth opportunities for startups.
  • USM is actively seeking industry partners who can collaborate with their PhD students to close specific gaps in the industry. This is a great way for startups to access highly skilled talent and work on cutting-edge research.
  • AWS is investing 6 billion USD in Malaysia to build cloud infrastructure, which will significantly boost the local economy.
  • AWS actively organizes workshops and online seminars that can help businesses optimise their resources and take advantage of cloud technology.

25 Startups continues to create engagement platforms for opportunities and resources for young founders to further elevate their resources. We would like to thank Assoc. Prof Dr. Selvakumar Manickam from Universiti Sains Malaysia and Ghazanfar Iqbal from Amazon Web Services for their support as we continue to grow Penang’s vibrant startup ecosystem.
